Warm Up for Latinoware 2011: 1st Three Nation Open Source Software will be held at the PTI

As part of the preparation for Latinoware 2011 – scheduled for October – Itaipu Technological Park (PTI) receives, between May 25th and 27th, the 1st Three Nation Open Source Software Encounter (ENTRÍ).

This joint initiative between Itaipu Bi-national and Itaipu Technological park (PTI) targets collaborating with the dissemination of Open Source tools to students in the Three nation Border Region, bearing in mind that this type of knowledge is still very little explored in the universities of the region. “The better part of developers, for not having this type of subject in the curriculum grids, are self-taught learners”, said Marcos Siríaco Martins, of the IT Superintendence at Itaipu Bi-national.

In addition to the content related to open source tools, the encounter will also have activities targeted at the environment – as well as disposal of the electronic refuse generated by technology – and presentations by professionals of the areas of design and graphic arts, who create their work using Open Source tools. “The presence of open source technology in large corporates is increasing, in particular in technology-based companies, which deploy it in some area of their business”, stressed Marcos Antonio Dellazari, also a member of IT Superintendence at Itaipu.
