Talks
1 - 15 Years of KDE: What have we constructed? Where are we going?- Aracele Torres
Aracele Torres is a member of the KDE community for translation and promotion of the software. She is a historian who graduated from the UFPI, and currently is doing her Master´s in the social history of science through the USP, in research on free software, and the GNU project.
The talk presents a retrospective of the 15 years of the history of KDE. The topics will include technical and community growth over time. Future perspectives on the project will also be presented.
2 - Owncloud: cria a sua própria nuve com KDE - Juan Martin Muguerza
Juan Martin Muguerza is a Member & a founder of the KDE-AR community. Member of the Owncloud translator team
Increasingly, our private data and applications are moving to the Internet. It will talk about the risks and benefits of this new paradigm, presenting Owncloud, the KDE's proposal to build easily your own cloud, enjoying the benefits but keeping control of our private data. It will also discuss about other KDE applications and free software to interact with the cloud.
3 - KDE Frameworks 5: What can you get out of it?- Sandro Santos Andrade
Sandro Andrade is a teacher at the Federal Institute of Education, Science, and Technology of the Bahia (Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia da Bahia [IFBA]) and is completing a doctorate in Computer Science from the DMCC. With a Master's in Mechatronics (2006) and a Bachelor's in Computer Science (DCC-UFBA) (1999), he has ample experience in systems development, especially in the use of C/C++ technologies in GNU/Linux, Qt4, and KDE4 environments and CORBA (ACE/TAO/CIAO) solutions. Sandro Andrade Qt developer certified by NOKIA, and an active contributor in KDE projects. Co-founder of Live Blue - a group of KDE users and developers in Bahia.
The talk's objective is to present the objectives and principal resources for the KDE Platform 5. Tools such as KXMLGuiWindow, KConfigXT, KCM, KIO, KParts and Get Hot New Stuff will be discussed through the use of practical examples. To conclude, brief examples about Plasma development will also be presented, as well as new developments in KDE 5.
4 - KDE-Edu: The KDE Vision for Educational Software - Filipe Saraiva
Filipe Saraiva is a member of KDE Piauí/KDE Brazil and a developer for Cantor - A mathematic programing tool for KDE-Edu. He participated in the Google Summer of Code 2011 in a project linked to Scilab. He has a Bachelor’s in Computer Science from UFPI and is completing a Master's in Electrical Engineering at USP.
The talk will present the subproject KDU-Edu, which uses the range of KDE technologies to create educational applications for a wide range of activities, encompassing various ages and educational levels. The idea is to present this software for the technical audience of programmers as well as the more educational audience, showing more ways to contribute to the project.
5- Plasma Active: o KDE chega ao seu tablet - Sandro Andrade
Sandro Andrade é professor do Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia da Bahia (IFBA) e doutorando em Ciência da Computação pelo DMCC. Mestre em Mecatrônica (2006) e Bacharel em Ciência da Computação (DCC-UFBA) (1999), possui ampla experiência na área de desenvolvimento de sistemas, em particular no uso das tecnologias C/C++ em ambientes GNU/Linux, Qt4, KDE4 e soluções CORBA (ACE/TAO/CIAO). Sandro Andrade é desenvolvedor Qt certificado pela NOKIA e contribuidor ativo em projetos do KDE. Co-fundador do Live Blue - grupo de usuários e desenvolvedores KDE na Bahia.
Há pouco tempo, o KDE apresentou sua mais nova tecnologia, o Plasma Active One, totalmente dedicado aos tablets, smartphones e dispositivos com touch-screen em geral. O Plasma Active One é mais um passo da longa jornada que a equipe KDE Plasma criou desde o início do projeto em 2007, originalmente para criação de um novo shell desktop. Com suporte para uma série de dispositivos baseados no processadores Intel e ARM, o Plasma Active One inova o conceito de Activities, especializa seu ambiente para suporte a touch-screen e traz versões re-projetadas das suas mais famosas aplicações. Esta palestra apresenta as principais funcionalidades do Plasma Active, uma visão geral da sua arquitetura e as possibilidades de contribuição com o projeto.

Luis Paulo Oliveira is graduating in Systems Analysis and Development by the Federal Institute of Education, Science, and Technology of the Bahia (Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia da Bahia [IFBA]). Qt/KDE developer working on the Spinet project – software for the musical educational project for KDE-Edu. He holds a Scientific Initiative through the CNPq.
This mini-course presents the fundamentals of mobile development through Qt 4.8, presenting and exemplifying the principal tools in Qt Mobility 1.2. Connectivity API, contacts, multimedia, location and access to sensors will be discussed.
